This site commemorates life and art of Rinaldo Caressa (1929-2009), who has been a professional painter for more than fifty years, and who painted Rome, its campagna, Venice lagoon and many more places, bringing in them the colours of his palette: roman painter par exellence, one could say that his artistic style and language may be identified just with Rome's own colours, which he adopted as pictorial paradigm to paint not only the Eternal City but also every other place; this very concept may be expressed by the words with which the poet Andreas Gryphius hailed Rome when departing from it: Ade! Begriff der Welt [Farewell! Idea of the world!] |
